Abstract

Objective:To investigate the effect of fluoxetine on post stroke depression(PSD).Methods:Fitty eight patients with PSD were observed and divided into two groups randomly.Of all 32 patients were treated with fluoxetine while 26 patients with acetamidepyrrolidone as contrast group. The effect were measured by Zung self Rating depression scae,Hamilton depression rating scale(HAMD) and activity of daily living scale (Barthel Index),nerve functional defect degree. Results:The therapeutic efficacy in treatment group was better than that of contrast group(P0.01).The scores of Zung,HAMD after fluoxetine treatment were lower than those of contrast group.Nerve functional defect degree and Barthel index were better than those of contrast group significantly(P0.01).The side effects of fluoxetine were insomnia, anxiety, nausea and tremor. Conclusion:Fluoxetine may the effective in treatment of PSD and could improve neurological functions.
