Antibiotic resistance of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in Shenzhen

Abstract

Objective To survey the antibiotic resistance and the prevalence for penicillinase-producing-Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG) and potential tetracycline-resistance of Neisseria gonorrhoeae(TRNG) in Shenzhen.Methods Minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) to 240 strains Neisseria gonorrhoeae of penicillin,tetracycline,ciprofloxacin,speeotinomycin and ceferiaxone were determined with agar dilution method.PPNG strains were determined with modified quantitative iodine method.Results The percentage Neisseria gonorrhoeae strains resisteant to penicillin,tetracycline,ciprofloxacin and ceferiaxone was 71.67%,78.33%,37.50%,and 6.67%,respectively.There were 32(13.33%)PPNG strains and 30(12.5%) TRNG strains.31.67% of the isolates were simultaneously resistant to penicillin,tetracycline and ciprofloxacin.Conclusion Ceferiaxone and speeotinomycin could be given the priority to treat patients with Neisseria gonorrhoeae.The resistant strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae to penicillin and tetracycline are prevalent.
