Detection of antibiotic suscepitibility of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in Shanghai ,2000

To survey the antibiotic suscepitibity of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in Shanghai area,a total of 225 N.gonorrhoeae strains was isolated in Shanghai.Inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of penicillin, tetracycline, ceftriaxone , spectinomycin and ciprofloxacin to 225 strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae were determined using the agar dilution method and β lactamase testing(perforomed with paper iodin quantitative method).The results showed that there were 84(37.32%) strains of penicillinase producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG) and 15(6.67%) strains of high level tetracycline resistant Neisseria gonorrhoese(TRNG). The high level ciprofloxacin resistant strains(MIC≥16mg/L) were 22(9.33%). No resistance strain to ceftriaxone and specitinomycin was found. The study suggested that spectinomycin or ceftriaxone is the first choice for the treatment of Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection in Shanghai. For prevention and treatment, it is important to survey successively the antibiotic suscepitibity of Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
