Expression and correlation of surivivin and COX-2 in gastric cancer

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression of Surviving and COX-2,and their correlation in gastric cancer.Methods:By immunohistochemistry and semi-quantitative RT-PCR,the expression of Surviving and COX-2 were examined in tissue blocks from 50 cases of gastric cancer.Results:①The expression of Survivin and COX-2 were negative in normal tissue,the expression of Survivin in tumor was correlated with depth of invasion,TNM stage,and lymph node metastasis(P0.01),but not with tissue differentiation(P0.05).The expression of COX-2 in tumor was correlated with TNM stage and lymph node metastasis(P0.01),but not with tissue differentiation and depth of invasion(P0.05) ②There was a positive correlation between the expression of Surviving and COX-2 in gastric carcinoma specimens(P0.05).Conclusion:The higher expression of Survivin and COX-2 play an important role in gastric cancer progression and development.The detection of Survivin and COX-2 expression appear to be effective and sensitive markers to early diagnosis and evaluation of prognosis in patients with gastric cancer.
