The study of cyclooxygenase-2 expression in gastric cancer

Abstract
Objective:To explore the expression and the behavior of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) in gastric cancer.Methods:The Envision immunohistochemistry was used to determine the expression of COX-2 in 85 tissue samples of gastric cancer.Results:The expression rate of COX-2 in the tissue of gastric carcinoma was 81.2%(69/85).The expression of COX-2 had no correlation with patient's sex,age,tumor site,histology differentiation,lymph node metastases,and the invasion of nerve(P 0.05).The COX-2 expression was significantly related to the size,depth and lymphovascular invasion of the tumor.Besides,it also related to the Lauren's type as well as the pathological stage of gastric cancer(P0.05).Conclusion:The expression of Cox-2 is significantly related to the invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer.Cox-2 is one of the important biologic characters of gastric carcinoma.
