Microtrauma treatment of senile patients with lumbar disc herniation by small approach on the sides of spinous process

Objective:To explore an effective approach and operative treatment of senile patients with lumbar disc herniation.Method:Eighty-six cases of senile patients with lumbar disc herniation were treated by small approach on the sides of spinous process microtrauma operation during 1994 to 2002.The follow up period was from 1 to 6 years.Result:According to Macnab standard,48 excellent result (55.8%),33 good (38.4%),5 fair (5.8%),no poor.Conclusion:It is microtrauma treatment by small approach on the sides of spinous process that has many advantages,such as mild trauma,less bleeding,easy appearing and performing,excellent decompression,minimizing destruction to the stability of the spine,seldom complications,conform to microtrauma.
