Upper lumbar disc herniation

Abstract
39 cases with upper lumbar disc herniation were reported. 2 cases were at L1-2, 3 cases at L2-3,and 34 cases at L3-4. All of them were operated. They were followed up for an average of 4 years and 5 monthes with excellent result in 25 cases,good in 10 cases,fair in 3 cases,and poor in 1 case. The view of pathogenesis mechanism and treatment of upper lumbar disc herniation and the surgical techniques to prevent the failed operation were discussed.
