Abstract

Objective To study the efficacy and safety of olanzapine and qeutipine combined with lithium in the treatment of bipolar mania. Methods 60 patients of bipolar mania according CCMD-3 criteria were randomly assigned into olanzapine group(olanzapine 10-20 mg·d-1)and qeutipine group(qeutipine 200-750 mg·d-1),and both groups were combined with lithium 750-1 250 mg·d-1.The effectiveness and the side effects were evaluated by BRMS and TESS respevtively for 6 weeks. Results The olanzapine group had a quicker effect than qeutipine group while the total effectiveness was equivalent. The side effects have no significant difference. Conclusion Both olanzapine and qeutipine combined with lithium were effective and tolerable in the treatment of bipolar mania.
