Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To analyze status quo of irrational drug use in outpatient prescriptions of No.101 hospital of PLA in an attempt to enhance and promote outpatient rational drug use.METHODS:A total of 12 648 prescriptions in the fourth quarter of 2008 in our hospital were collected,of which the irrational prescriptions were selected for classified analysis.RESULTS:608(4.81%) outpatient prescriptions were found to be irrational. The irrationality appeared predominantly as irrational in dosage and administration or repeated dosing.CONCLUSION:The irrational outpatient drug use in our hospital is serious, which not only lead to the waste economically but also increases in adverse drug reactions and drug resistance that give rise to drug-induced disease. Therefore,it is urgent to tighten control on drug use meanwhile strengthening pharmacists' guidance on drug use to promote rational drug use level.
