Analysis of Irrational Drug Use: Review of 14 121 Outpatient Prescriptions

Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the irrational outpatient drug use in a Grade II Class A general hospital so as to promote rational drug use.METHODS: 14 121 outpatient prescriptions from Jan.to Dec.in 2009 were analyzed statistically in respect of the irrational drug use and the proportion of the irrational prescriptions.RESULTS: Of the outpatient prescriptions reviewed,371(2.63%) were irrational.CONCLUSION: The outpatient drug use is somewhat irrational in the hospital,thus the drug use in this hospital remains to be improved further.
