On the Ideological Source and Course and the Present State of Collectivism

Collectivism is the important component of ethical relations. Tts ideological source and course can be traced back to the beginning of human society whether in China or in the West. It promotes and stabilizes the quasi-development of society. However, socialist collectivism tends to be weakened along with the entering of our country into market directed economy. Against this background, we have to stress rationally on the one hand the social interactivity and the necessity of realizing freedom of individual character and individual value in the new period; and have to deal more rationally and fruitfully with relations between individuals and collective on the other hand, enabling individuals and collective to have heathy development in a harmonious and cooperative atmosphere. Thus the objective of reconstructing and carrying forward collectivism in the new period can be attained.
