Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of Didang Qigui Decoction on endothelin-1(ET-1) and nitric oxide(NO) in serum of diabetic rats, and to further explore its mechanism of prevention and treatment of diabetic angiopathy. Methods The model of diabetes was established by intraperitoneal injection of Streptozotocin(STZ) at a dose of 60mg/kg.Experimental rats were randomly divided into six groups: blank group(A,10 cases),model group(B,13),diamicron group(C,13),Didang Qiqui Decoction group(D,13),Didang Qigui Decoction and diamicron group(E,13),Didang Qigui Decoction high-dose group(F,13) and they were treated respectively.Eight weeks later, serum ET-1 and NO contents were determined through ELISA and nitrate reductase method respectively.Results(1)After treatment,FBG in each treatment group was decreased dramatically, especially in C group(P0.05) compared with B group;(2) In each treatment group,ET-1 was decreased while NO was increased, especially in D group(P0.05) compared with B and C group. Conclusion It is possible that Didang Qigui Decoction protect vascular endothelial cells by reducing serum ET-1 content and increasing NO content and further prevent or delay the occurrence and development of diabetic angiopathy.
