The public signs in cities are an important component of the language environment and human environment of a city.The translation of public signs,therefore,influences the image of a city.The theory of communicative translation emphasizes translation should clearly and exactly express the goals and functions of communication.This theory applies to public signs which carry fixed social and cultural connotation.
