Abstract

A meme is a unit of cultural information and language is one form of their carriers. If generally imitated, a meme must have characteristics such as function, rationality, vogue, and authority, etc. or one of them. However, its replication and transmission is the subjective reflection of social phenomena, and it is a kind of active behavior. In addition to their characteristics, linguistic memes in the process of replication and transmission are influenced heavily by human mental factors. The text analyses the influence of social psychology on the replication and transmission of linguistic memes from a socio-psychological point of view to have a thorough understanding of the essence of linguistic memes and provide a kind of new perspective on our foreign language teaching.
