Counter-Impoverishment and the Construction of Harmonious Society in Urban Areas

A series of economic and social problems will arise in the process of urbanization. If not well resolved, not only urbanization can not play positive role, even intensified social contradictions will be trigger. Therefore, building a harmonious society is the ideal goal of urbanization. As a developing country, China’s urban poverty has its own characters, mainly manifests in four aspects, among which the new urban poverty caused by peasant workers is highly focused. We must take a series of counter-impoverishment strategy so as to eliminate poverty, maintain social equality and social stability. The building of harmonious society in urban areas must focus on the cultivating of public spirit, coordinating interests of all aspects, concerning social groups and giving them equal treatment, carrying out activities about building harmonious society extensively, enhancing social solidarity and harmony and so on.
