Abstract
The dual social structure in urban and rural areas is specific to China,which took shape in a specific historical stage.At its beginning,this kind of social structure played some positive part.But with economic development and social progress,more and more defects of this social structure have manifested themselves,and the contradictions caused by the defects have been intensified to such a degree that they impede building a harmonious society of urban and rural integration with Chinese characteristics,and therefore,must be broken down.
