Therapeutic outcome of intravenous amiodarone combined with metoprolol in the treatment of tachycardia

AIM:To observe the acute efficacy and safety of intravenous amiodarone combined with metoprolol in the treatment of tachycardia.METHODS:Seventy patients with tachycardia were randomly divided into amiodarone group and amiodarone combined with metoprolol group.The therapeutic effect,effecting time,blood pressure,heart rate and adverse effect were compared between the 2 groups.RESULTS:The rates of sinus rhythm recovery and efficacy treated by amiodarone combined with metoprolol were significantly higher than those treated by amiodarone(94.4% vs 70.6%,97.2% vs 82.4%,P0.05),and the effecting time of the amiodarone combined with metoprolol group was significantly shorter than that of the amiodarone group [h,(0.5±0.2)vs(8.2±0.2),P0.05].The blood pressure level significantly decreased(P0.05)in amiodarone combined with metoprolol group after treatment,while there was no significant change(P0.05)in amiodarone group;the heart rates were significantly decreased in the 2 groups after treatment(P0.05),but the decrease was more obvious in the amiodarone combined with metoprolol group(P0.05).There was no obvious adverse effect in both groups.CONCLUSION:Intra-venous amiodarone combined with metoprolol is effective and safe in the treatment of tachycardia.
