Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of electroacupuncture plus mild moxibustion in treating trigeminal neuralgia. Methods Sixty-five patients were allocated,in order of visits,to a treatment group of 34 cases and a control group of 31 cases. The treatment group received electroacupuncture plus mild moxibustion and the control group, electroacupuncture only. Results After three courses of treatment, the cure and marked efficacy rate were 76.5% in the treatment group and 51.6% in the control group;there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion Electroacupuncture plus mild moxibustion can obviously increase the cure and marked efficacy rate of acupuncture-moxibustion treatment for trigeminal neuralgia.
