Observations on the Efficacy of Deepacupuncture at Xiaguan (ST7) plus Electroacupuncture in Treating Trigeminal Neuralgia

Abstract

Objective To investigat the efficacies of deepacupuncture at Xiagan (ST7) plus electroacupuncture in treating trigeminal neuralgria. Methods 62 cases of primary trigeminal neuralgia were randomly divided into a deep needling plus electro acupuncture (treatment) group and a routine needling (control) group, 31 cases in each group. After treatment of 2 courses, their therapeutic effects were observed. Results The total efficacy rate was 96.77% in the treatment group and 77.42% in the control group.There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (p 0.05). Conclusion Deeply needling Xiagun (ST7) plus electroacupuncture can increase significantly the therapeutic effect on trigeminal neuralgia.
