Combined Pneumatic and Ultrasound in Ureteroscopy for Treatment of Ureteral Calculi

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of ureterosopic pneumatic combined with ultrasound lithotripsy for ureteric calculi.Methods:From August 2006 to October 2009,240 cases(110 males,130 females,mean age 42.3 years,age range 16 ～ 80 years) of ureteric calculi were treated by ureterosopic pneumatic ultrasound lithotripsy.The greatest dimension of the calculus ranged from 5 to 14 mm.The calculus were located in upper ureter in 25 cases,middle ureter in 80 cases,lower ureter in 135 cases.D-J stent was indwelled for 4 weeks after operation.Results:The calculi clearance rate was respectively 100% in lower ureteric calculi,95% in middle ureteric calculi,80% in upper ureteric calculi.3 pregnant cases with ureteric calculi had normal delivery and gave birth to healthy children.None of patients occured urinary tract infection.Conclusions:The combined pneumatic and ultrasound in ureteroscopy is a safe,effective treatment with a few complications for ureteric calculi.
