Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical application of the Swiss lithoclast pneumatic lithotriptor for the treatment of ureteric calculi under the ureteroscopy. Method From December 1997 to May 2003,155 patients with ureteric calculi were treated with ureteroscopy and Swiss lithoclast pneumatic lithotriptor. Results 124 of 155 patients (80%) were treated successfully in the first one session. 149 of 155 patients (96%) were showed no calculi after 3 months. 3 of 155 patients (1.9%) were found the perforation of ureter. None serious complications were found during and after operation. Conclusion Treatment of ureteric calculi with this method has been safe, effective and less invasive. It would be much better while combined with other extracorporeal lithotripsy such as ESWL.
