Abstract
Objetive To compare the clinical effects of amniotic membrane graft and corneal limbal stem cell autologous transplantation in pterygium excision. Methods A total of 114 cases(131 eyes) were randomly separated to A and B groups. A group containing 53 cases(59 eyes) was treated by pterygium excision with amniotic membrane graft. B group containing 61 cases(72 eyes) was treated by pterygium excision with corneal limbal stem cell autologous transplantation. The therapeutic effect of two groups was compared. Results The recurrence rate was 16.95% in A group(10 eyes) and 8.33% in B group(6 eyes),(p 0.05),The recurrence rate for A group was significantly higher than B group. Conclusion Pterygium surgery with corneal limbal stem cell autologous transplantation had fewer recurrences and is convenient; amniotic membrane graft had a higher recurrence rate than corneal limbal stem cell autolgous transplantation and quite consumable.
