Abstract
Diethyl adipate was solvent-free synthesized from adipic acid and ethyl alcohol with toluene-p-sulfonic acid as catalyst under microwave irradiation. The effects of microwave irradiation power, microwave irradiation time, reactant ratio, and the amount of catalyst on the yield of diethyl adipate were studied. The results showed that the optimum reaction conditions were as followed: microwave irradiation power was 595 W,reaction time was 10 min,the molar ratio of adipic acid to ethyl alcohol was 1∶8,and the amount of toluene-p-sulfonic acid was 2.0%,the yield was up to 85.9%.
