Abstract
Aim: To investigate the expression of lung resistance protein(LRP) in esophageal carcinoma. Methods: The expression of LRP protein was detected by using immunohistochemical staining in 81 cases of esophageal carcinoma tissue. Among them,LRP mRNA expression of 32 cases of fresh specimens were detected by using RT-PCR.Results: The expression of LRP protein was significantly higher in cancer tissue (54.3%) than that in normal tissue (35.9%)(P 0.05). The expression of LRP mRNA was also higher in cancer tissue(0.54±0.05) than that in normal tissue(0.39± 0.04)(P0.05).The LRP expression was not associated with its pathological features in esophageal carcinoma. Conclusion: The overexpression of LRP maybe correlate with drug resistance, which might be independent of pathological features.
