A Comparison Between the Associative Meanings of Chinese and Western Culture Images

Because of the existence of different cultural backgrounds, one language may have the associative meanings that are closely related to its specific cultural background. There are both similarities and differences between the culture images of different nations. This paper selects five frequently-used culture images, namely, water,wind,moon,willow and grass. Through the analysis and comparison of their associative meanings,this paper tries to give a comprehensive understanding of the meaning of language.
