Analysis of Ambulatory Blood Pressure in Elderly Patients with Fracture and Hypertension

Abstract

Objective To investigate the ambulatory blood pressure changes in diffrent age groups in elderly patients with fracture and hypertension,and to assess the occurrence of cardio-cerebral vascular events.Methods A total of 184 patients with elderly fracture and hypertension hospitalized between April 2009 and February 2012 were divided into two groups according their ages,the younger aged group(aged from 60 to 79,n=97) and the advanced aged group(aged ≥ 80,n=87).Then,we analyzed their ambulatory blood pressure.Results The average systolic blood pressure increased in both groups with no obvious difference(P0.05).But the average diastolic pressure and pulse pressure were lower in the advanced aged group than those in the younger aged group during the whole day,including daytime and nigh(P0.05).The blood pressure rhythm disorders were more obvious and the occurrence rates of the cardio-cerebral vascular events were also apparently higher in the advanced aged group than those in the younger aged group(P0.05).Conclusion The blood pressure rhythm disorders are more obvious and the occurrence rate of the cardio-cerebral vascular events is apparently higher in the advanced aged group than those in the younger aged group.
