Abstract
Objective To analyze the survivin expressions in lung cancer and para-carcinoma tissues and benign lesion, and to investigate the effects of survivin on the occurrence, development, prognosis of lung cancer. Methods The expression of survivin protein were examined by immunohistochemical staining in samples from lung cancer and para-carcinoma tissues and benign lesion. The data was analyzed by SPSS13. 0 software. Results The expression rate of survivin was high in lung cancer and low in para-carcinoma tissues, nought in benign lesion. Survivin positive staining was located mainly in cytoplasm and partly in nuclear or nuclear and cytoplasm. The cytoplasmic expression of survivin in lung cancer was irrelevant with age, tumor size, pathological stages, differentiation, histological types( P 0. 05),however,it was related with lymph node metastasis( P 0. 05). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that survival rate of positive expression of survivin in cytoplasm was higher than negative in lung cancer patients, and the difference was significant( P 0. 05). Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that the cytoplasmic expression of survivin and lymph node metastasis were significant prognostic factors for lung cancer, and the risk ratios were 18. 882 and 3. 546,respectively. Conclusions The expression of survivin is related with occurrence of lung cancer. The cytoplasmic expression of survivin is irrelevant with clinicopathological characteristics of lung cancer, but it is related with lymph node metastasis. The expressions of survivin in cytoplasm and lymph node metastasis are independent prognostic factors.
