The expression of survivin in lung adenocardinoma and its clinicae significance

Objective To study the expression of survivin at protein level in Lung adnocancinema and its relationship with clinic pathological features.Methods Survivin protein expression was determined in 28 cases of lung adenocar cinoma tissues and 20 cases of normal lung tissues by streptavidin-peroxidase immunohistochemical technique.Apoptotic index(AI) were determined by TUNEL.Results Expression of survivin protein was detected in 15 cases((53.6%)) of lung adenocarcinoma tissues,but no expression of survivin protein in 20 cases normal lung tissues was found(P(0.001)).Statistically,there was no relationship between survivin protein and sex,age,smoking history.A correlation was found between survivin exprexsion and pathological grades,TNM stages,lymph node metastases,prognosis.AI showed that survivin protein has the anti-apotosis role.Conclusions Expression of Survivin in adenocarcinoma of lung suggested that the protein may play a important role in the pathway of carcinogenesis and the Survivin gene may be potential therapeutic target in lung adenocarcinoma cancer.
