Study of cardiac severity degree and prognosis on patients with chronic heart failure by BNP

Abstract

Objective To investigate relation about BNP level of plasma and severity degree and prognosis in Elderly patients with chronic heart failure( CHF). Methods Plasma B-type natriuretic peptide( BNP) level and left ventricular ejection fraction( LVEF) were determinated in 64 CHF patients and healthy control group 20 cases. Results BNP in CHF group were significantly higher than the control group,while it was negatively related to LVEF. In CHF group,BNP levels showed a positive linear relationship with hospitalized mortality of patients. Conclusion The BNP level can help evaluate cardiac severity degree and prognosis of CHF.
