Abstract
Objective To evaluate the curative effect of plasma exchange (PE) for treating severe hepatitis. Methods Patients were divided into treated group and control group, both groups were given general treatment for protecting livers; and the treated group was given PE treatment simultaneously, recovering rates and total effective rates, average hospitalization days and major laboratory examination results were observed at different clinical stages. Results In the treated group, the recovering rates of severe hepatitis at early, middle and late stage were 99.97%, 79.17% and 26.32% respectively, and the total effective rate was 73.68%; in the control group were 65%, 57.14% and 9.09% respectively, and the total effective rate was 48.89%, the average hospitalization time of the clinical recovering cases in the treated and control group was 22.52± 13.56 days and 52.44± 18.25 days respectively. Conclusion PE provides a effective and safe way for treating severe hepatitis, it is quite suitable for the patients with severe hepatitis to be treated with PE at early and middle stages.
