Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of azithromycin on serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) in patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS) .Methods Patients with ACS were divided into 2 groups, group A(azithromycin therapy group,n=38) and group B(non Azithromycin therapy group,n=38).Group C was used as normal control(n=37) .Vein blood samples were obtained before the treatment and after 4th day and 8th day and analyzed for hs-CRP(hs-CRP0、hs-CRP4 and hs-CRP8).Results Comparied with group C,the hs-CRP0 levels in group A and group B increased significantly (P=0.000,0.000).The level of hs-CRP8 was reduced significantly than those of hs-CRP0 and hs-CRP4 in both group A and B(group A:P=0.030, 0.013;group B: P=0.044, 0.006). The hs-CRP4 and hs-CRP8 levels in group A and B not reduce significantly(P=0.556,0.472).Conclusion Azithronycin can’t decrease extraly the hs-CRP level in patients with ACS.
