Abstract

Objective:To study the relationship between hyperhomocysteinemia and type 2 diabetes patients complicated with cerebral infarction.Methods:51 cases of cerebral infarction,46 cases of type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM) complicated with cerebral infarction and 48 normal controls were selected, and the levels of plasma Hcy were measured using FPIA method. Results:The level of plasma Hcy in patients with cerebral infarction and DM complicated with cerebral infarction were higher than that in the controls, and plasma Hcy in the group of DM complicated with cerebral infarction was also higher than that in the cerebral infarction group. Conclusion:The results show that high fasting plasma Hcy is an independent risk factor for cerebral infaction in type 2 diabetes and serum folic acid, vitamin B12 may influence the plasma Hcy level.
