The Current Situation of Evaluation of the Government Performance and Countermeasures Research

Government Performance Evaluation, as an effective management tool, receives an extensive concern from the literature of management research and practitioners all over the world. After our government implemented target responsibility system, government performance evaluation is becoming a hot spot in the field of theory and practice. But our government performance evaluation is still in its infancy since we started late. According to the reality and the political environment of the country , there are some aspects in need of improvement, namely, perfecting the legislation, guaranteeing the institutionalization and standardization of performance evaluation, advancing the government performance with citizen and experts’ evaluation, setting a performance review based on the public and regarding modern information technology as technical support in the ways of evaluation.
