Expression and significance of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in colorectal carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To study the expression and significance of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in colorectal carcinoma.Methods The expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 was detected by SP immunohistochemical method in 60 cases of colorectal tissue and 20 cases of normal tissues.Results The expression rate of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in colorectal tissues was 64.3% and 30.3% respectively.The expression level of MMP-2 in colorectal carcinoma was positively correlated with histological grading and lymph node metastasis(P0.05),but the expression level of TIMP-2 in colorectal carcinoma was negatively with those (P0.05).There was a negative correlation between MMP-2 and TIMP-2 expression (P0.05).Conclusion The expression rate of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 is closely correlated to the histological grading and lymph node metastasis.It may serve as a parameter for determining biological behavior and prognosis in colorectal carcinoma.
