Expression and Significance of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in Human Colorectal Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To understand the relation between the expression of MMP-2 TIMP-2 and the clinical pathology in human cororectal carcinoma. Methods SP immunohistological staining was used to detect the expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in 60 cases of human colorectal carcinoma. Results The expression rate of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 were 66.7% and 30.0% respectively. The expression of MMP-2 was positively correlated to lymph node metastasis. The expression of TIMP-2 was negatively correlated to lymph node metastasis. Conclusion The expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 might be closely serve as a parameter for determining tumor biological behavior.
