Abstract
Purpose To understand the relationship between the expression of MMP-2,TIMP-2 and the clinical significance in human colorectal carcinoma. Methods Immunohistological staining was used to detect the expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in 104 cases of human colorectal carcinoma and their metastatic lesions. Results The expression rates of MMP-2 were 53.8% and 72.1% in colorectal carcinomas and metastatic lesions respectively;expression rates of TIMP-2 were 66.3% and 35.6%,respectively;the expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 was negatively correlated between primary and metastatic lesions of colorectal carcinoma. Conclusions The expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 is closely correlated to human colorectal carcinoma metastasis, and might be served as a useful parameter for determining tumor biological behavior.
