Abstract
Objective:To study the expression and pathological significance of VEGF, CD34 and CD44v6 in gastric carcinoma and its adjacent mucosa. Methods:The expressions of VEGF, CD34 and CD44v6 in 60 gastric carcinoma and it's adjacent tissue samples were detected by immunohistochemical method. Results:The positive rate of VEGF expression in 60 cases with gastric carcinoma is 71.67 % (43/ 60) while that of the adjacent tissue is 88.34 % (53/60). There is obvious difference between the two groups (P=0.022). There is significant correlation between the expressions of VEGF and TNM stage, depth of infiltration, degree of differentiation and lymph node metastasis (P0.05). MVD of gastric carcinoma is obviously lower than that of adjacent tissue (P=0.000). Increased MVD is associated with lymph node metastasis and depth of infiltration, TNM stage (P=0.043, P=0.046, P=0.000). The positive rate of CD44v6 expression in gastric carcinoma is 61.67 % (34/ 60), and that of the adjacent tissue is 48.34 % (29/60). There is no significant difference between the two groups. Positive expression of CD44v6 is related to the invasion depth and lymph node metastasis and that is also significantly correlated with TNM stage. There is significant correlation between VEGF, CD34 and CD44v6. Conclusion: The expressions of CD44v6, CD34 and VEGF in gastric carcinoma is helpful to evaluate the infiltration, metastasis and prognosis of gastric carcinoma.
