Abstract
Objective To explore the expression of CD105 and CD34 in gastric carcinoma microvessel, investigate the correlation between CD105, CD34 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF).Methods Expression of CD105, CD34 and VEGF in 50 cases of gastric carcinoma and 10 cases of normal gastric tissue were investigated by immunohistochemical staining. The expression of microvessel density (MVD) marked with CD105 and CD34 was detected. Correlation between MVD and VEGF was also statistically analyzed. Results The MVD of cases with early gastric carcinoma and infiltrative gastric carcinoma, which were marked by CD105, were 26.49 ± 7.26 and 13.07 ± 3.13 respectively. MVD, which were marked by CD34, were 53.32 ± 23.05 , 18.35 ± 13.46 respectively. The positive rate of VEGF were 82.5 % and 53.33 % respectively. The MVD of cases with normal gastric tissue, which were marked by CD105 and CD34, were 3.54 ± 2.69 and 8.79 ± 8.83 respectively. The positive rate of VEGF was 20%. There was a statistical significance between gastric carcinoma and normal tissue in each index (P 0.01 ). There was a statistical significance in MVD marked by CD105 and CD34 in cases with infiltrative gastric carcinoma (P 0.01 ). MVD marked with CD105 had obvious difference with depth of invasion (P 0.05 ). And that was more obvious different than that marked with CD34 between in carcinoma with lymphnode matastases and carcinoma without lymphnode matastases (P 0.01 , P 0.05 ). There was a positive correlation between MVD (marked with CD105 and CD34) and VEGF (P 0.01 ). Conclusion As an endothelial marker of angiogenesis, CD105 is a more specific marker for tumor angiogenesis than the commonly used endothelial marker, CD34. There was a close correlation between VEGF and MVD which were marked by CD105 and CD34. Both can be regarded as an indicator of the degree of malignancy in gastric carcinoma.
