Effects of valproate combined with tiapride to treat Tourette syndrome in children

Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of sodium valproate combined with tiapride in treatment of Tourette's syndrome(TS).Methods A total of 30 patients with Tourette's syndrome(TS) were randomly divided into study group and control group.The study groups were treated with sodium valproate(20 mg/kg·d) combining tiapride(5 mg/kg·d),the control group continued to Tiapride or haloperidol treatment.The efficacy was measured by the Yale Global tic severity Scale(YGTSS) before and after treatment.Results YGTSS total tic scores of study group were significantly lower than that of control group 4 weeks,8 weeks after treatment(P0.05).The effective rate of study group was significantly higher than that of control group 8 weeks after treatment(P0.05).12 weeks after treatment,there was a significant difference between the two groups(P0.01).Conclusion It is effective to treat Tourette's syndrome with valproate combining tiapride.
