Abstract
Objective To observe efficacy of electrolyzed oxidizing water(EOW) in killing spores of Bacillus subtilis var.niger and the influence of organic matter on the germicidal efficacy.Method Suspension quantitative germicidal test was used to carry out laboratory observation. Results EOW containing available chlorine 192.5 mg/L(redox potential 1188 mV,pH 2.02) with a 20 min contact time killed Bacillus subtilis var.niger spores in suspension by a logarithm 5.0.After stored in airtight thermostatic container at 54℃ protected from light for 14 days, available chlorine decreased to 98.53 mg/L,redox potential was 1181 mV,pH was 2.04,while the efficacy in killing bacterial spores had no obvious change.Bovine serum albumin more than 3 g/L in the bacterial suspension had serious influence on germicidal efficacy. The higher the concentration of the organic matter, the more serious the influence on the germicidal efficacy. Conclusions The EOW has good efficacy in killing spores of B.subtilis var.niger.Its available chlorine content decreased significantly after storing, but it could keep efficacy in killing spores.More than 3 g/L of bovine serum albumin could decrease its germidical efficacy rapidly.
