Abstract
Objective To study germicidal efficacy and its influencing factors of electrolyzed oxidizing water(EOW for short). Method Suspension quantitation germicidal test was used to measure germicidal efficacy of EOW to vegetative form of bacteria ,spores of bacteria and HBsAg. The factors were observed expereimentally that ORP and available chlorine of EOW were influenced by temperature, vessel and ultraviolet radiation. Result Electrolyzed oxidizing water used in the experiment had redox potential(ORP) of 1 153~1 165mv,PH value of 2.21~2.27 and available chlorine of 50.27~58.23mg/L ,The suspension quantitation germicidal test indicated that at 19~21℃,the killing rate of spores of Bacillus subtilis var.niger exposed to EOW stock solution for 30 min and 60 min attained 99.93% and 100.00% respectively, and that the killing rate of Escherichia and Staphylococcus aureus exposed to the same solution for 0.25 min and 0.5min attained 99.99%. The same solution with 0.5 min contact time could fully destroy the antigenicity of HBsAg in suspension containing 0.5% calf serum. The ORP and available chlorine of EOW were influenced by temperature, vessel and ultraviolet radiation in different degree. Conclusion Electrolyzed oxidizing water will have nicer germicidal efficacy if its method used is appropriate ,and the applied foreground is far-ranging in the field of disinfection .
