Abstract
In order to know the germicidal efficacy of electrolyzed oxidizing water (EOW) and the influence of organic substance, suspension quantitative germicidal test and organic substance influence test were carried out. The results showed that the killing rates of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans in suspension exposed to EOW containing available chlorine 50 mg / L at oxidation reduction potential 1100 mV and pH 2.7 for 15 s were 99.90% and the killing rate of spores of Bacillus subtilis var, nig-er in suspension exposed for 3 min was 99.90%. Presence of organic substance had significant influence on the germicidal efficacy of EOW, therefore, thorough washing is necessary before disinfection.
