Efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen and protein-free calf blood extract for diabetic peripheral neuropathy

Objective To investigate the clinical effects of hyperbaric oxygen combined with protein-free calf blood extract for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).Methods 56 DPN patients were randomly put into the therapy group and the control group.The patients in the therapy group were treated with hyperbaric oxygen,protein-free calf blood extract and basic therapy while the others treated with protein-free calf blood extract and basic therapy.Results The effective rate of therapy group was 93% which was dramatically higher than that of control group that was 75%(P0.05).Significant differences of nerve conduction velocity could be obviously detected between the two groups(P0.01).Conclusion Hyperbaric oxygen combined with protein-free calf blood extract has favourable curative effect on the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
