Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of hyperbaric oxygen on the nerve function of elderly patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Methods Sixty elderly patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy were divided into two groups, 30 cases in group I (normal routine treatment group) that received routine treatment and another 30 cases in group II (hyperbaric oxygen group) that received hyperbaric oxygen in addition to routine treatment. Results The conduction velocity of nerve was significantly faster than that before treatment in two groups, and it was significantly faster in group II than in group I. Conclusion The hyperbaric oxygen plus routine treatment has significantly good effects on the diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
