Abstract

Tang Shunzhi, leader of the Tang-song Literature in Ming Dynasty, has changed twice in his writing style. In his thirties,he began to learn from writings in Tang Dynasty instead of those in Qin and Han Dynasty;while in his forties,he realized that expressing oneself honestly was the most important thing in writing. From then on,he gave up imitating any other ancient writers and began to put his heart into making a combination of rich content and natural form, which became a great enlightenment to the literature reformers in late Ming Dynasty. For this reason, researches on his second change in writing style and literature theory should be taken into consideration if we are to draw a conclusion on Tang Shunzhi′s influence on the literature reform in late Ming Dynasty.
