Abstract

Objective To analysis the mortality of malignant tumor in Dahua region of Shanghai. Methods According to the report on cause of disease/injury death derived from monitoring system of residents causes of death in Dahua region and the demographic data provided by Dahua local police station during 2008 to 2010, the crude mortality rate, standardized mortality rate, 35~64 yrs truncated standardized mortality rate, accumulation rate, the rank order of death, potential years of life lost (PYLL) and life lost rate were analyzed. The standardized death rate was calculated by 2000 Chinese population composition. Results The annual mortality rate of malignant tumor was 174.04/105(male 204.71/105, female 142.88/105), while the standardized rate was 101.25/105(male 115.97/105, female 85.15/105). The median age of death in all malignant tumor deaths was 72 years old(male 71, female 74 yrs old). The sex ratio of cancer mortality was 1.43∶1 between male and female. The intercept standardized mortality rate was 93.54/105(male114.31/105, female 74.09/105) from 35 to 64 years old, cumulative rate was 109.99/105(male 138.58/105, female 80.35/105) from 0 to 74 years old. The top 5 malignant tumors with the higher mortality rates were lung cancer, liver cancer, gastric cancer, intestinal cancer and pancreatic cancer. The PYLL of malignant tumor was 4 459.09 yrs, the rate of PYLL was 20.98%(male 25.94%, female 15.86%), the standardized rate of PYLL was 16.14%(male 19.04%, female 13.07%). Conclusion Lung cancer and digestive cancer are major cancers which harm bodies seriously. The prevention and control of them should be focused on.
