Abstract
Objective To assess the clinical value of cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) replacement in the treatment of the aged with subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH).MethodsSeventy-six SAH patients were equally divided into treatment group and control group in random and a routine medication was given.CSF replacement was added to the treatment group.The therapeutic efficacy,duration of symptoms,and complications were compared between the two groups after four weeks of therapy.ResultsThe therapeutic outcomes were superior in treatment group to the control in terms of shorter duration of symptoms,lower incidence of cerebral vascular spasm(CVS) and hydrocephalus(uc=6.567,t=9.686-19.713,χ2=3.952-6.725,P0.05) except for the recurrence rate of hemorrhage(χ2=1.815,P0.05).ConclusionCSF replacement is safe and effective for treatment of SAH in the aged.
