Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To study the expressions of p57~(kip2) and AR in prostatic carcinoma and their relationship with the occurrence and differentiation of prostatic carcinoma. METHODS:The expressions of p57~(kip2) and AR were detected by the immunohistochemical technique (SP methods) in 36 cases of prostatic carcinoma and 10 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia. RESULTS:The positive-expression rate of p57~(kip2) protein in tissue of prostatic carcinoma was 52.78%, which was lower than that in tissue of benign prostatic hyperplasia,χ2=4.552,P0.05. The positive-expression rate of p57~(kip2) protein in tissue of poorly differentiated prostatic carcinoma was 28.57%, which was much lower than that in tissue of higher differentiated carcinoma, χ2=5.315,P0.025. The positive-expression rate of AR in tissue of prostatic carcinoma was 47.22%, which was also lower than that in tissue of benign prostatic hyperplasia, χ2=5.828,P0.025. AR positive-expression was not correlated with tumor cell differentiation in prostatic carcinoma, χ22.0,P0.25. CONCLUSION:The decreased expressions of p57~(kip2) protein and AR are correlated significantly with the genesis and differentiation of prostatic carcinoma.
