Abstract
Objective To study the relationship the allele frequencies and genotype distribution of CD14 gene promoter region-159C/T,-260C/T polymorphisms in Chinese patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI),and to analyze association between the serum levels and genotype of CD14 with AMI.Methods The polymorphisms of CD14 gene were analyzed by the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) methods in 120 AMI patients and 130 healthy controls, and the serum level of CD14 was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Results The AMI group showed significantly higher serum levels of CD14 than control group(P0.01),the distributions of CD14 gene-159C/T polymorphism was not different between AMI group and control group, but the CD14 gene-260C/T polymorphism was significantly different. The relative risk suffered from AMI of T allele was 1.654 times of the C allele(OR=1.654,95%CI:1.161~2.356),the serum level of CD14 T allele carriers was significantly higher than that of no carriers(P0.05).Conclusions CD14 gene promoter region-260C/T polymorphism is associated with AMI,and T allele may be a risk factor for AMI.In which the CD14 T allele carriers maybe increase risk by enhancing the CD14 expression in the pathogenesis of AMI.
