Abstract

Objective To investigate the association between C-reaction protein(CRP)gene T-757C polymorphism in the promoter region and acute myocardial infarction(AMI)in the Chinese Han population of Suwan region.Method 303 patients with AMI(AMI group)and 282 control subjects who were free from coronary artery disease(control group)were recruited into the study. The T-757C polymorphism in CRP gene was determined by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis.Result The frequency of TC genotype in the AMI group was significantly higher than that in the control group(41.3% vs31.2%,P=0.012).There was no statistical difference of the frequencies of TT、CC genotype and T allele(55.8% vs 63.5%,3.0% vs 5.3% and 76.4% vs 79.1%,respectively)in two groups(P was 0.058,0.210 and 0.272,respectively).Multivariate logistic regression analysis adjusting for traditional AMI risk factors such as smoking、SBP、DBP、Glu、 TG、LDL-C、HDL-C indicated that there was still significant correlation between the TC genotype and AMI(OR=1.650,95%CI:1.031-2.640,P=0.037).Conclusion The CRP gene T-757C polymorphism in the promoter region was signif icantly associated with AMI among the Chinese Han population of Suwan region. Thus, the TC genotype would have a signif icantly increased risk of suffering AMI.
